How to Upload MindSmith eLearning to WordPress

MindSmith is a modern AI-powered eLearning authoring tool that exports content in multiple formats — including SCORM, xAPI, web packages, and its unique “Dynamic SCORM” format. But if you are running WordPress, getting that content published and tracked requires some specific steps depending on which export format you choose.

MindSmith Export Options

MindSmith offers several delivery methods, each with different WordPress compatibility:

Method 1: Static SCORM Export (Most Compatible)

The standard SCORM export packs everything into a self-contained .zip file with SCORM 1.2 or 2004 support.

Steps:

  1. In MindSmith, export your lesson as Static SCORM (or Dynamic SCORM if you prefer live updates)
  2. Install a SCORM/xAPI plugin on your WordPress site
  3. Upload the .zip through the plugin’s upload interface
  4. Insert the content into your page, post, or LMS lesson using the plugin’s shortcode or block

Which plugin to use:

  • GrassBlade xAPI Companion — full featured, supports SCORM 1.2 and 2004, but triggers “Failed to connect to API” popup on MindSmith Dynamic SCORM
  • SlideMind Bridge — free, auto-detects format, same API popup issue
  • Articulate Rise and HTML Uploader — supports SCORM uploads with chunked handling for large files, 4 display modes, and automatically suppresses the MindSmith API connection popup that plagues all other plugins

Method 2: Dynamic SCORM (Live Updates)

MindSmith’s unique Dynamic SCORM feature keeps your content connected to the live version. When you update a lesson in MindSmith, learners see changes immediately — no re-upload needed.

This works by placing a lightweight “wrapper” SCORM file in your WordPress site that points to MindSmith’s servers. The plugin loads the actual content from MindSmith at launch time.

Known issue with most plugins: The Dynamic SCORM wrapper attempts to connect to MindSmith’s API on load. Many SCORM plugins (GrassBlade, SlideMind Bridge, and generic SCORM players) trigger a browser “Failed to connect to API” popup at this point. The popup confuses learners, breaks the immersive experience, and in some cases locks the course behind a modal that requires a manual dismiss. This happens because the wrapper looks for an LMS API endpoint that is not present in the standard WordPress setup.

WPGator’s solution: Our Rise Uploader intercepts the API call inside the wrapper before it reaches the browser, eliminating the popup entirely. Learners see the MindSmith content directly with no error messages, no modals, and no interruption.

Requirements:

  • A SCORM/xAPI plugin that supports remote content loading (ensure it handles the API handoff cleanly — most do not)
  • Your MindSmith lesson must remain published and accessible
  • Learners need internet access to load the content (standard for any web-based delivery)

Method 3: Web Export (No Tracking, Simplest)

If you do not need completion tracking or quiz scores:

  1. Export from MindSmith as Web
  2. Upload the .zip to your WordPress media library or server
  3. Extract it and link to the index.html, or embed in an iframe
  4. Protect the page with a membership plugin if needed

Limitations: No progress data flows back to WordPress. Completion is manual.

Summary

MindSmith’s export flexibility makes it one of the easiest authoring tools to integrate with WordPress — once you know which format to use. Static SCORM is the safest choice for most WordPress sites (works with any SCORM plugin). Dynamic SCORM is ideal for teams that update content often (no re-uploading). Web export works when you do not need tracking and just want the content visible.
